The Charter

The Charter is an invitation-only club for founders and investors in Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Bangalore. Running it meant juggling a lot at once: a waitlist to sort through, an application that asks founders and investors completely different questions, yearly memberships to bill and renew, and three kinds of gatherings to plan across cities. The application questions changed often, and every change needed an engineer. Nobody could see the full journey from application to member in one place.

I designed both sides of the product. The admin console brings everything into five clear areas: membership, programming, revenue, engagement and system settings.

At its heart is a questionnaire builder with eleven question types, simple rules for which question appears when, and a version history. The team can now rewrite the application and publish it themselves. The same questionnaire powers separate founder and investor paths inside the member app.

Creating a gathering happens in one form that covers the format, ticketing with GST, who gets invited, and scheduled announcements, and it shows how many members will see it before anything goes live. Five roles with their own permissions keep the right people in the right places.

In the member app, people sign in with LinkedIn or Google, see their membership come alive, and land on a home screen showing their next gathering, how long it will take to get there, and a one-tap RSVP.

The team stopped waiting on engineers to change their own application. They could see the whole membership funnel on one screen, and members got an app that felt as considered as the club itself.
